My 8-week Boxer puppy has green eye discharge. Is it an emergency?

Your puppy should see a veterinarian right away. It appears that she has an eye infection and without seeing it in person, it is impossible to evaluate the condition of the cornea or surface of the eye. It is always best to have eye problems diagnosed and treated within the first 24 hours of symptoms to make sure the problem does not progress. Your pup will at least require some prescription eye medication and possibly other mess depending on the severity of the problem.

    Without actually examining the eyes it is hard to know but It could be an eye infection. He should be examined by a veterinarian to determine the cause. If he has an eye infection, an antibiotic will be needed to clear up the infection.

Poor Pippa! I definitely see the discharge in the inner corner of her eye, and a little bit of redness. You should definitely have her examined by a vet as soon as possible, because eye issues can turn into emergencies very quickly. The discharge can be due to conjunctivitis, a foreign body, or even a scratch in the cornea (this condition is dangerous as it can quickly progress and even cause a dog to lose their eye). In the meantime, you can get Pippa an E-collar (or "cone") to prevent her from scratching the eye and causing further damage and apply artificial tears to the eye two to three times per day. I hope this helps and that Pippa starts feeling better soon!

My pitbull puppy has green discharge coming from his left eye and last night he had some to I think it was in the right eye last night though but I can't say for sure. Should I be worried about him cause I am!
Yes, I would be concerned in that it isn't normal to have green discharge from the eye. This can be a sign of an eye infection. I would take Hercules into the vet first thing in the morning to have his eyes examined. The vet can diagnose if he does have an eye infection, and can prescribe medication to treat it. It's important to have any eye problem examined and treated promptly because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hi! I rescued a dog and her puppies from the street about 3 weeks ago. The mom has gushing from her eyes, greenish sometimes. It has not disappeared even though I have cleansed her eye many times. Now it seems one of her puppies is getting the same
It's probably some kind of infection that should be seen by a veterinarian. Without an exam there's no way to know just what the cause is and therefore finding the correct treatment is difficult. Keeping it clean is helpful, but she may need antibiotics and topical medication to clear the infection and keep it from spreading further to the rest of the pips.

My 13yr old male boxer had discharge coming from his eyes now his left eye as turned a cloudy colour and there is no longer any discharge cause I bathed them please help
Oh dear! This sounds like something that definitely needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Discharge from the eyes can be caused by an eye infection, an injury to the eye such as a corneal scratch or ulcer, allergies, or even chronic problem such as dry eye. The fact that one eye now looks cloudy is very concerning - this could be due to a severe corneal ulcer, an infection or inflammatory reaction inside the eye, glaucoma, or a cataract. Eye problems like this need prompt attention because there is a risk of permanent damage or even vision loss the longer it goes without treatment. Because of this, I would recommend taking Diesel to an emergency vet today - he/she can examine his eye and use a special stain if needed to check for an ulcer or other injury, and will prescribe appropriate medication to treat the problem depending on what is found.

Hello. There could be a small scratch on the cornea that is just not healing, or there is a piece of debris underneath the third eyelid. This is a common place for a piece of weed or a seed to become trapped, & the only safe way to check this is to apply a drop of anesthetic to the eye & pull the third eyelid up with a pair of forceps. Even if nothing is found, this might be a case of folliculitis of the third eyelid. It will take your vet only a few minutes to check all this out, does not require any sedation or general anesthesia, & you can have your answer immediately. Regardless of what is found, an ophthalmic medication will probably be dispensed. Please make an appointment to see your vet at your earliest convenience. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hi, I have a german shepherd pup of 36 days. I took him to the vet hi checked the temp he said everything is fine but now their is a greenish yellow mucus from one of the eyes.. Is this normal i have never had a dog, this is my first.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This mild amount of discharge if it is just periodically and not constant then it is probably normal. However, if this becomes consistent and more severe, have him reevaluated by your veterinarian as this may be due to a corneal injury for example. Best of luck!

My 1 1/2 year old Yorkie has an eye that has green puss in it ... I cleaned it with a warm cloth , but is there something that I can put in it
Unfortunately no, there are no OTC medications you can use on Bella's eye. If she has green pus, that can indicate an eye infection and she needs to see a vet right away. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Bella into an ER vet now to diagnose and treat her eye.

My female boxer dog has light yellow discharge from left eye, with redness in the eye. She had excessive tearing. She had discharge 3 times since 4pm until 10pm.
If she is. It wanting to hold the eye open then there may be a scratch or ulcer in the eye and it needs to be seen by an emergency clinic tonight. If the eye is open, then it can wait until tomorrow. It can be a sign of inflammation from irritation from an allergen or previous foreign body or an infection causes this. The best thing to do is rinse the eye with sterile eye wash at home and you can apply a warm compress to help with inflammation until you can get her seen

I noticed today that my female lab has a small amount of green discharge coming from her right eye. It is a light green color and about not free flowing. Do I wait to take her in to the vet for her scheduled appointment this Saturday or should she go
If the eye is not too uncomfortable and the only abnormality is the green discharge she should be ok to wait until Saturday. However if she is in pain, pawing at the eye or squinting, best to have the eye checked over sooner rather than later.

Hello. My dog is presenting with a runny eye. Clear fluid and also green discharge. This just started; it wasn't there this morning or before I left this afternoon...I just got home and saw it. He is eating normal. Drinking normal. No food changes,
The eye lids appear very red and with the history of the runny eye discharge with a sudden onset, there could be a scratch on the cornea or a foreign object trapped under the eye lid. An allergic reaction is also possible. Corneal scratches and foreign objects in the eye are uncomfortable and can get worse quickly. Chester needs to wear an elizabethan collar at all times and he should be examined today by the veterinarian for correct diagnosis and treatment. I hope this helps.
