My dog has a black, red, cracked bump on his back. What's wrong?

My dog has a bump in the middle of his back about quarter size looks cracked and dryed and black and red looking it's got bigger looks gross he's had it for about 4 weeks or longer can u help also a blister and red spots on the side of his penis please help

I am sorry to hear about Blu's problem! Some possibilities for what is going on here with his skin would include ringworm (which is actually a fungal infection), a bacterial dermatitis or a mite called demodex. A visit to your vet is needed for testing to determine the cause. The will likely look at the area with a special light which can detect some species of ringworm, and do a fungal culture. They may also do a skin scrape to look for mites or a skin cytology (looking under the microscope for bacteria) to check for other possible causes. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Ringworm can be contagious to people, so be sure to wash your hands well after touching him.
