Why is my dog's fur yellow after a tick bite? Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 7 lbs

I have a shitzu-Maltese mixed 3 almost 4 year old dog and a couple months ago she had a tick on her forehead and it grew very large. I never got her tested because she never showed any signs of Lyme disease. Now, I have noticed that the same spot where the tick was, now has the hair yellow. What is this/ what does it mean?

I don't see anything that concerns me in this picture. The tick bite would not cause changes in the hair, but it's possible the resulting wound could temporarily change the hair pigmentation. If it's worrying or bothering, I recommend a quick vet visit, but it does not look urgent.
