My allergic dog won't eat homemade food. Should I switch to kibble?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 5.1 lbs

My dog has been eating cooked pork with veges and some rice. She is allergy to chicken , beef , seafood and possibly lamb. So we stick with pork. But recently she gets soooo sick of her same food that she doesnt want to eat even when she is hungry. What should I do? Switch back to dog food?

Your dog should be eating dog food regularly. Homemade diets rarely have the correct amount of nutrients that our pets need and this can lead to medical problems in the long run. I would recommend trying to find a diet that is made from pork. There are several companies that specialize in making limited ingredient diets. You can also try other novel proteins like rabbit, venison, or kangaroo based dog foods.
