My dog ate hydrocodone. What should I do for medication poisoning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 13 years and 9 months old | 13 lbs

My dog accidentally ate one of my hydrocodone 10/325. My vet said to give him endosorb every 4 hrs. He had just got through eating his supper. Anything else I can do?

Any treatment now will be purely supportive. Monitor for vomiting, jaundice, lethargy, increased respiration and anemia. Liver and kidney function should be checked via blood test to rule out damage from the dose of acetaminophen ingested. Further supportive care may be indicated if liver/kidney function is compromised. This may include IV fluids and blood transfusions if indicated.
