If Lila is having an allergic reaction to a bug or bee sting, the swelling will go away on its own within a few hours. It is an emergency if her throat is swollen and she has trouble breathing. If she seems really miserable, you can take her to an emergency vet for Benadryl and steroid injections which take the swelling down pretty quickly.

If this happened suddenly out of the blue it's definitely an allergic reaction. this could be due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog is lethargic, take her to the vet in order to get an antihistamine injection.
