My kitten throws up cat food. How to transition from baby food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 9 days old

Found a kitten when it was 2 weeks old with no mom. It's now 6wks. Throws up if I mix soft or hard cat food with anything. Only giving it baby food. Is this normal? What can I do to get it to eat cat food?

Poor thing! I would continue with the baby food but start mixing some mild canned cat food in. Start with a very small amount and work your way to a predominate cat food mixture. I would also make sure she is dewormed at least twice as many young kittens have GI parasites that can make them vomit (in severe cases)
