Why is my dog crying in pain when I touch his old head bump?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 3 years and 10 months old | 45 lbs

My dog Scooby has a bump on his head and he's had it for the last 3 years we've had him and i think that he has it because just right before we got him he had gotten run over by a car and we nursed him back to health, then yesterday i went to pet him and he cried in pain.

Hello. I think that the mass on Scooby's head is likely unrelated to the pain response if it has been there for three years and not changing. I would have Scooby seen by a vet to assess where the pain is coming from, and have the bump checked out at the same time. Good luck with Scooby.
