This is a medical emergency, and Rosie needs to see a vet now. It is very serious when a dog throws up blood. She could have eaten something toxic, may have GI ulcers, could have a foreign body, or could have suffered trauma to her GI tract. She requires veterinary attention now to diagnose what is causing her to vomit blood so she can be treated. Please take her into a vet now.

This is concerning. Bright blood usually means that something is bleeding high in the digestive tract or esophagus. She may have chewed something that irritated or scratched her along the way and because of that she should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Your vet will do an exam, possibly x-rays and labwork, and based on these results will be better able to tell you what is going on and how best to treat it.

Oh no, poor Vader! Throwing up specks of blood is quite serious, and that can be caused by trauma to the GI tract, eating something toxic, a foreign body, or GI ulcers among other causes. When a dog starts throwing up blood, it's time for an immediate trip to the vet. He will likely need a shot to stop the vomiting and IV fluids, and the vet can diagnose what is causing him vomit and treat him for it. I know it's evening in the US, but there is typically a vet on call for weekend and evening emergencies. I see you are in Fresno, CA. There is the Fresno Veterinary Speciality and Emergency Center. They are open 24 hours, I would take Vader into there right away. Good luck, I hope this helps! http://www.fvsec.com

I’m sorry to hear your dog isn’t feeling well. You may want to consider with holding dinner tonight to let his stomach rest. However, due to the blood I would highly recommend that he be evaluated by a veterinarian tomorrow. Many things can cause vomiting, but the blood increases my concern. Best of luck to you both and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is a very concerning sign and you should take Loki to your local vets for an appointment as soon as possible. Vomiting blood can be related to stomach ulcer, intoxication, food indiscretion, ingestion of a foreign object, gastrointestinal infection and more.
