Dear Veterinarian, Yesterday, I bought a cute little Guinea Pig! He is 3-4 months old. That was great. Unfortunately, today, it seems like I have caught a cold. I know i'm not allergic to him. But I have been handling him a lot. You know, to help him get used to me. I am worried. My question is, Can a Guinea Pig can catch a human cold? I don't want to get him sick. Please help. Sincerely, Rachel

Toby should be safe from your cold, as most viruses are species-specific and don't cross from one to the other. That being said, be careful to wash your hands before and after you handle him for both of your protection.
