Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 80 lbs
My girlfriends dog is about 10 years old. He is a golden retriever. He bit her one time about 7 years ago due to her being to close to him eating...tonight he went up to her and she was petting him and he jumped up and attacked her..literally threw her around like a rag doll..i had to resort to violence to get him off..she is currently getting stitches all up her arm...why would this be?

How awful for both your girlfriend and Cruz! Cruz may have some emotional issues. I recommend a full behavior workup with a veterinary behaviorist if this is all possible, since this sounds like a dangerous situation. Your vet should be able to refer you to a specialist in this area. Cruz may need a full exam and medications like antidepressants and anti anxiety medication to help in conjunction with behavior modification.
