My dog is drooling after flea dip. Could it be Triatrix toxicity?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 9 months old | 50 lbs

I applied Aloe Vera gel to Sparkie's paw ( it was bruised). I then dipped him in diluted Triatrix for his flease. About 1/2 hour later he's drooling. There is no roaming. Which of those could have started the drooling? Should i give him milk?

Amitraz toxicity can cause drooling as one of its many possible side effects. This is the main ingredient in Triatrix. The other side effects associated with this drugs are generally related to the central nervous system and the cardiovascular system. Milk will not help dispel as toxic amount of drug that was absorbed. Sparkle Jnr may require supportive care and decontamination depending on the nature of his clinical signs and current health. I would recommend a check up sometime tonight by a veterinarian. If toxicity is the cause of the clinical signs, this truly should not wait until tomorrow morning.
