How to get my adopted cat to groom herself? Or should I bathe her?

I adopted a 4-year old street cat. She does not know how to groom herself. Can a cat be taught to groom itself, or will I have to resort to bathing it? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 years and 4 months old | 8 lbs

Congrats on your new cat! Cats typically do know how to groom themselves, and Piper will do it when she needs to. There's really no way to teach a cat to groom itself, so it you are concerned that she is getting too dirty, you can give her a bath. Do not bathe her daily as that will strip her skin of it's natural oils and dry it out. I would only bathe her if she gets really dirty.
