Why isn't K9 Advantix II working for fleas & my dog's ears are itchy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 75 lbs

I haven't bough k9 advantix ii 55lb and over in about 3 or 4 months but I bought some and applied it like usual and now my dog won't leave his ears alone. I have used this stuff for a long time and never had a problem. Also it isn't killing fleas like it should. I usually see none after the application but I have seen a good amount. It's only been a week but I feel like there is something going on. I have 3 dogs and 2 are messing with their ears and I have seen a few fleas on all of them

You'll want to be sure to the environment the Pets are in has been treated too. The fleas will die after they've bitten the Pet. This helps to kill the adult fleas. You may be finding fleas from the eggs that were laid at the time of application who are now growing into maturity. If there are many, you'll want to treat the house and yard and visit your local Veterinarian to discuss other options. For the ears, if you see any redness or inflammation you'll want to visit your local Veterinarian as soon as possible. They may have a yeast or bacterial infection that is causing discomfort.
