Why is my puppy sick with fever, drinking, and urinating a lot?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 2 months old | 10 lbs

My puppy is 1 month old and usually eats alpo prime cute (I don't know why, but that is what the owner fed him since he stopped drinking from the mother) I recently decided to change because he wasn't eating enough of the chow, so I gave him tuna w/ chow and the other 2 days I crushed the chow up and put it in some beef, but I've noticed my dog now has fever, is drinking/sipping water every 5 minutes and is releasing a small amount of urine every 7-9 minutes, should I put him back on the chow?

It may not be the food that's causing your pet's discomfort. Urinary leakage is usually caused by systemic disfunction or infection. You'll want offer your pet a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice until you feel like Ricco is back to his normal self. Be sure to visit you local Veterinarian to discuss possible antibiotic treatment. You'll want to do then sooner than later as bacterial or fungal infections can spread.
