Will spaying stop my unspayed dog's aggression during heat cycles?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 100 lbs

My daughters 3 yr old female lab not spayed. Attacking my 13 female lab husky mix also not spayed. She gets worse with each cycle. Will she stop if she is spayed and calm down and stop attacking my dog? When not in heat they get along great and she is a good dog.

Spaying both dogs is going to help, as it will take hormonal cues out of the equation. You may need further socialization and dog-dog aggression help as well. Please consult this fantastic dog behavior website for more information and free tips: www.dogstardaily.com.
