My cat threw up Comfortis flea medicine. Is it still effective?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 lbs

I gave my Cat a 270mg Comfortis (Spinosad) pill for flees and after 20-40min she puked up a hair ball and what looks like dry food. I went throw it and didn't find a pill, do you think the pill dissolved completely her normal vet is closed at the moment?

Poor Clair! The Comfortis tablet often dissolves quite quickly, but Elanco reps have said that if a cat vomits within an hour of medication administration, the cat should receive another dose. To confirm this information and to report Clair's vomiting, I recommend calling the phone number on the Comfortis packaging.
