Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | neutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 10 lbs
I took my 10 lb Maltese to the pet welfare clinic yesterday. He has been in pain since having a chocking incident on Wednesday 5/3. He freaked out and was flailing around to trying dislodge the tree. I think he may have hurt his back or neck. Like a pulled muscle or pinched nerve. they took X-rays and saw nothing but did find elevated white blood cells in his blood work. Sent me home with antibiotics and an appetite stimulant. Is there anything I can give him for his pain and discomfort?

I'm sorry to hear that Leo has been in so much pain! Unfortunately, there are no safe over the counter pain medications for dogs (aspirin included). Call the veterinarian that you saw yesterday at the clinic to ask if they can prescribe a medication to help Leo's discomfort. Since you are worried about back or neck pain, also restrict his activity to a crate or small room to prevent him from running or jumping, as this could exacerbate his injury. I hope that he's feeling better soon!
