My dog eats grass after eating. Is she having stomach discomfort?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 35 lbs

My dog eats a lot of grass. I have read this isn't harmful, and is very normal. It very rarely makes her vomit. What I have noticed is that she goes into the garden straight after eating her dog food. Does she need something to aid digestion? Or is she just helping herself?

It's possible that Lola may be having a bid of stomach discomfort. You might consider switching her to a diet formulated for sensitive stomach along with the addition of a multivitamin/probiotic supplement. While the grass itself may not hurt Lola, you'll want to be sure to consider any pest or week control that's been sprayed on the soil for the last year or so as well as any parasites that may be living in the soil.
