Why is my sick cat losing weight with high monocytes & low platelets?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 years and 8 months old | 11 lbs

My 8 year old cat is very sick last 3 weeks suddenly, lost a lot of weight, off his food, treated with 2 sets antibiotics by vet, they don't know what it is, blood results revealed HIGH MONOCYTES (53.88 where normal is 0.05-0.67) LOW PLATELETS (50 where normal is 151-600) LOW RBC (6.09 just under normal range) and HIGH POTASSIUM (10.0 where normal is 3.5-5.8) he has zero energy and very pale, lumpy lymphnodes all over, can you help, please?

His condition sounds very severe, a biopsy of the enlarged lymph nodes and tests for FELV and FIV viruses may provide more diagnostic information and guide treatment options but it is possible that such a severe presentation may not be curable.
