Is it normal for my dog to poop right after peeing on a tree?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 70 lbs

My Labrador Retriever not very often but as of late, I've notice that when he lifts up his legs to mark a tree, he then immediately poos right after. Basically what I like to call pooing on a tree. Hasn't happened often but he's done it 3 times. Is this normal?

While uncommon, Jetsen's urination immediately followed by a bowel movement can still be normal. (One of my dogs also pooped on trees in his younger days.) As long as he is consciously having a bowel movement (i.e. posturing/squatting) and not simply having stool fall out while he is unaware of it, there should be no reason for concern.
