My dog is coughing, has a dry nose. Is it kennel cough? What to do?

My 5 year old beagle mix has been coughing but hasn't hacked anything up. Her nose is dry too. I am thinking that it might be kennel cough. She is acting fine and eating good. What should I do?

You can have Lola examined by your veterinarian to confirm your thought. Most cases of kennel cough will resolve with our without treatment within 2 weeks although the cough may linger beyond that. Other causes such as heartworm disease, cardiac disease, parasites or other respiratory infection should also be ruled out.
