Could my French Bulldog's leg rash be a lick granuloma? What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 9 months old | 38 lbs

Hello I'm looking for an analysis and treatment recommendation for my French Bulldogs injury. It appears to be some sort of rash and we noticed it 3 hours ago. Our dog, Budda has been acting and walking normally other than the occasional licking of the wound which is on his back-right leg. Please help, thank you. - Danny & Budda the Frenchie

This area on Budda could be a rash, but it could also be a lick granuloma. Lick granulomas occur when a dog licks an area a lot, which in turn can be caused by a foreign body, bone or joint pain, allergies, separation anxiety, or even boredom. The only way to know how to treat it is to have it definitively diagnosed by vet. Once the cause of it is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. I would take Budda into the vet on Monday.
