What is that on my dog's tooth? Is it a crack or infection?

Hi, According to the pic I think it is a tartar built up. Too much plaque and tartar build-up can push the gums away from the teeth, exposing new areas for bacteria to develop which causes inflammation of the dog's gums (also seen in the picture the gum line seems inflamed). But it can also lead to cavities, infection, tissue destruction, tooth loss, and even pus (abscess) formation. So please schedule an appointment with your veterinarian to see if your dog is a candidate for a dental scale and polish.

That looks like the start of plaque and staining. You may not be able to brush that off as it usually requires a scaler and polisher to remove. It is normal over time for that to happen and it is just him constantly eating and chewing, the same as us. Over time more will develop on all the teeth and will need them clean, but for the now, the gums are healthy and there is no sign of an infection so just try to keep brushing as often as you can

The teeth look absolutely fine, the dark color in the middle is due to a small area in the tooth that is much deeper than the rest of the teeth, it can be rectify only via dental scale and polish but it will likely come back within weeks, anyway - nothing to worry about.

I'm not sure what you mean by "it caries" - definitely try to repost with more description if I don't hit on the answer you need, but it looks like there is a moderate amount of tartar on that molar, and possible a draining tract up in to the gums, which would be caused by an infection of the tooth root. It's possible that part of the tooth is broken under the tartar and we just can't see it. I would recommend scheduling a vet visit to have this looked at it.

That appears to be just some build up in a normal furrow in the 4th premolar tooth. This can occur with normal wear on the teeth. Black discoloration could indicate an infection or a foreign object trapped at the gum line. If you cannot easily remove it (be gentle), I recommend to have Jasmine examined by the veterinarian. It appears to be some moderate gingivitis and tartar. The tooth underneath the red area may be affected, and may not. It would take an xray of that area to know for sure. I recommend getting her examined by your veterinarian and planning a dental cleaning and oral x-rays.

Both teeth look normal. The gums above the tooth are pigmented in the second picture, which can be normal. (like a freckle inside the mouth). There is mild tartar calculus on both teeth but the gums look healthy. Thank you for asking Boop by Petco! You are doing a good job with the brushing!

This looks like dental staining. She does have gingivitis and dental plaque so I recommend a dental cleaning. When the teeth are scaled and polished the stained area may disappear. Hi there. This is a very good question. Based on the photo, this type of tooth fracture is usually referred to as a "slab fracture". Dogs often get these from chewing on hard objects like bones or rocks. Although I can't see too well on the picture, I would be concerned about the pulp cavity being exposed. This is the area that runs throughout the length of the tooth carrying blood supply and nutrients to the tooth. If exposed, there is a greater likelihood that the tooth can become infected and decay quite rapidly. It can also cause pain in the mouth. Freddie's veterinarian can check with a dental probe to see if the pulp cavity is exposed. Sometimes this can be done while the dog is awake, but sometimes it has to be done under sedation or anesthesia. If Freddie has a bit of tartar, you can just schedule a teeth cleaning and his vet can check it out then.
