Hello, Im trying to become a Veterinary technician and then possibly a veterinarian. I'm currently only certified as a vet assistant and certified as a animal care worker. I have no other college nor experience. My question is what is the next step? what associates degree should obtain first? etc... Thank you!

In order to become a licensed veterinary technician, you will need to find a LVT program (2 year) or a veterinary technology degree (4 year). There are many schools that offer these programs depending on where you want to live while doing this. If you do intend on becoming a veterinarian one day, my advise would be to attend a four year program. While in school, you will be able to take all the pre-requisite course work required to apply to most veterinary schools. There is a book put out by the American Veterinary Medical Association each year that outlines precisely what requirements are needed for each school.

We are doctors in our field and went to school to be veterinarians. There are some registered technicians that also went to school for several years for advanced training. If you pursue an education in those fields, then you can apply

I would recommend a pet coach consult so you can ask more detailed questions. The above question is still pretty general. Most of us went to a 4 year college than vet school afterwards which is 4 years. Hope that helps
