Why is my dog so hungry but losing weight on his homemade food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male

I've a dog of mixed breed, aget about 8-9. He always accepted his meal with pleasure(up to when he was about 3/4 he eated dog food, then we started to give him an homemade meal). There was a period in the past in which he weighted about 24/35 kg(I'm sorry I can't traslate),but also if he weighted this much, he eated not so much as he is doing now:200 hg of pasta or rice (uncooked),and 400 hg of meat, carrots, zucchini and a apple.the problem is he's getting thinner while his hunger increase.

I strongly recommend you arrange a full health check for Kikko to ivestigate medical reasons as to why he is not absorbing the nutrition he requires and also contact a nutritionist for advice on correct formulation of homecooked diets if you do not wish to feed a fully baalnced dog food. I would be concerned that uncooked rice, vegetables and meat may not be providing enough digestible nutrition for him at the moment.
