How often should I trim my dog's nails to prevent them from curling?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 4 years and 10 months old | 17 lbs

How often should I trim my dogs nails? I've been doing it monthly, is this enough? this time I waited about 6 weeks and some nails seem to curve over a little.

Each dog has a little bit different speed at which the nails will grow, but generally speaking you should cut Chloe's nails once every 3-6 weeks. If they are to be point of curling under, then you know you've waited a bit too long so next time cut them maybe a week or two sooner. I hope this helps!
