My husky's itchy foot infection returns after antibiotics. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 88 lbs

Hi all. Hoping someone can help. My one year old husky has a foot infection. He has had two lots of antibiotics and steroids and although steroids provide relief as soon as I stop them the itchiness restarts. This drives caesar crazy not to mention costing me a small fortune. Has anyone had anything similar with their husky and provide me with some suggestions? Many thanks. Concerned mum

Recurrent itching requires further investigation as to the underlying cause, if this is just one foot a foreign body such as a thorn may be preventing recovery. Mites, allergies and fungal infections can also be contributing factors
