My cockapoo has a red mark on her chin after bath. Is it a burn?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 22 lbs

My cockapoo just took a bath. 20 minutes later, I find an inch long red mark that starts from her lower lip to her chin. Looks similar to a fresh burn mark. She isn't in pain when I go near or touch it. It's not bumpy or bleeding. Help?

It is possible that Macy scratched herself with a toenail or while rolling around after her bath. I would expect a burn to be more painful when you touch it, so it seems less likely since she isn't bothered. Continue monitoring the scratch for now, but if it seems to be getting larger, becomes itchy or has not healed after a week, a vet should examine Macy. I hope that all goes well!
