Cat got vaccine, now has severe diarrhea and vomiting. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 9 years old | 21.8 lbs

My 9 year old Siamese mix had her first Purevax vaccine in 9years and since then we've been battle serious foul diarrhea stools and vomiting. She has never been sick in the 9 years that we've had her and we've had her since she was 8wks old. What's going on. My vet won't say it's the vaccine.

These signs may be related to the vaccine, but it is definitively hard to prove. If that was the case the signs would be usually self limiting and resolving. Given the persistency and severity of the signs I would recommend a check up anyway. The second possibility is that the gastrointestinal system is affected by an infection, who got worse with the vaccine. It could happen that the infection was in a sub clinical stage before vaccination, not showing any sign at physical examination.
