Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | spayed
For a while now my cat always keeps her left eye shut. Occasionally she opens it but not all the way. I haven't really noticed any redness in her eye though. Is this something I should be concerned about? She does spend a lot of time outside also.

Squinting, or keeping one eye closed, is usually a sign of pain in the eye - so yes, this is something that I would definitely have checked by your vet when you are able to :) Fudge Stripe may have an eye infection, or an injury to her cornea such as a scratch or ulcer. Your veterinarian can do a thorough ophthalmic exam and may also use a special eye stain if needed to help diagnose the problem so that your kitty can be treated appropriately.

She may have gotten something in her eye when she was outside. If her eye isn't significantly improved by the morning or if it gets worse, please get her in to see your vet as an injury to the cornea is possible and that would require medical intervention to ensure her full recovery.
