Can meds control my boxer's cancer seizures and extend her life?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 9 years old | 58 lbs

We have 9-yr boxer who had cluster seizure 3 months ago (5x in one day). Diagnosed with potential lung cancer tumor a month earlier though no symptoms. Now on anti-seizure meds which controlled seizures up until now but just had 6 in 30 hours. She's at vet for observation but wanted to get 2nd opinion. Assuming brain cancer, are seizures just going to get worse and more frequent? Could increase in meds possibly control and extend quality of life for her for several months or longer?

So sorry about your dog. Your vet could try to increase the medications but it is possible that the anti-seizure medications will not control the seizure, especially if the brain cancer has progressed. I would definitely give it a try and see what happens and hopefully it will control the seizures and give him some more time.
