Press should be examined by your veterinarian to diagnose the underlying cause. After a physical exam, blood work and/or abdominal xrays or ultrasound may diagnose a tumor or fluid accumulation. Certain endocrine conditions can also cause a pot bellied appearance.

Well, if he is a truly a male dog, I think we can safely rule out pregnancy! Depending on how old your dog is and if there are any other clinical signs, there are a few things that come to mind that can give the appearance of roundness of the abdomen. There is condition known as Cushing's disease that can cause the abdomen to appear somewhat pendulous. Fluid build up in the abdomen from cause the abdomen to have a rounded appearance. Gas distention can also cause the abdomen to appear this way. None of these can be simply diagnosed and will require the expertise of a veterinarian to examine Press for other clinical signs in order to figure out the problem. Although this does not sound like a dire emergency, I would recommend getting there sooner than later.

There is a chance that her abdominal muscles are kind of overstretched and therefore she has a potbelly. However since she is an older dog I would monitor her water intake. If she drinks more than 50cc/kg of water in 24 hrs, she needs to have some blood tests checking for Cushings disease. Heavy panting is another typical sign of Hyperadrenocorticism (Cushings disease). The blood tests should also give an indication on her organ health and show up any problems with the liver, spleen and kidneys which could present with an enlarged abdomen.
