What to do for a senior dog's chronic bloody nose when antibiotics fail?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Male | unneutered

I have a springer spaniel he's 16 he sounds like he's constantly got a blocked nose it also runs sometimes blood in the mucus I've seen two vets who have given him antibiotics but not working. He tends to bite so examining him is difficult the last vet suggested a calming tablet so they can put something up his nose not too sure about that as he will still be awake they advised against anasetic

I'm sorry Mickey isn't doing well! Yes, I agree the next step is to have the interior of his nose examined to see if he has a fungal infection, foreign body, or tumor causing this constant blocked nose. He can be well sedated so they can look up his nose, and I would recommend doing it. You have tried antibiotics without success and further testing is needed.
