Shih tzu can get tear staining around their eyes and on their nose due to excessive tearing of the eye. This could suggest that there is a blockage of the tear ducts. The staining around the mouth could be due to saliva and excessive salivation. The acid in the saliva is likely what is causing the yellow staining. I would recommend you take Murphy to his veterinarian to determine if his tear ducts are blocked and to assess any possible dental disease that could be causing him to salivate excessively.
