Why does my cat have watery eyes with black crusty discharge?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 years and 8 months old | 20 lbs

Cat has been having watery-like eyes that dry into a crusty black consistency that ive had to physically wipe away from his eye. Wondering what this is and if cause for concern.

It could be that Honeycomb is suffering from an eye infection or allergies causing his symptoms. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Honeycomb into a vet immediately. The vet can diagnose what is causing his eye symptoms and treat him for it.
