My Labrador swallowed a stuffed animal. Should I call the vet immediately?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 5 years and 5 months old | 80 lbs

Our labrador swallowed a stuffed animal. It didn't have any stuffing in it, but she did swallow the outside part so she didn't have to give it up. Any suggestions? Wait and see if she passes it? Feed her lots of grease/fat?

Please do not feed Maddie any grease or fat. That could cause her to develop pancreatitis, which is an extremely serious inflammation of the pancreas that is fatal without treatment. Labs are notorious for eating things they shouldn't, and often times they pass them without problem. I would monitor Maddie for now. If you see any signs of vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, lethargy, or constipation, then I would have her seen by a vet immediately.
