Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 8 months old | 49 lbs
dog just came inside from a fenced backgarden. We noticed that her face around the mouth is swollen. She is walking around, but drooling. She has not vomited and we looked in her mouth and there no blood. How can we treat her?

Oh no, poor Allie! She could have injured her mouth, could have been stung by a bee or an insect, or she could be suffering from an allergy. The problem with swelling around her mouth is that it can increase to a point where it interferes with her breathing and leads to respiratory distress. Rinse her mouth out with cool water to make sure it is flushed out, and monitor her for now. If her face keeps on swelling, she continues to drool excessively, or she starts having problems breathing, she will need to see a vet immediately. In that case, please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
