My dog has scabs with rice-like things after kennels. Are they worms?

My 2 1/2 Year old cocker spaniel has come back from kennels with two scabs to his back that have what look like rice hanging off them. Please can you advise. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 5 months old

Things that look like rice grains are usually tapeworm segments, so make sure you're not seeing these near or on his anus--that's the typical location. It doesn't hurt to get some dewormer from your vet just in case, especially if he hasn't been dewormed recently. If the scabs don't seem to heal on their own, he needs a dermatological visit at your vet as well.
