Why is my normally active cat suddenly sleeping much more than usual?

My 17 month old cat is normally very active but has been sleeping a lot more the usual. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old

Ajax is an older boy and while he can slow down with age, this increased sleeping could be due to a medical illness such as arthritis (it's painful to move), a systemic illness, or infection. I would have him seen by a vet today if possible for a health check.
