Why is my dog's skin tag red, irritated, and sensitive under her arm?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old

Athena has a growth under her right arm. Her vet's seen it before, and they said it was a skin tag, but it looks irritated, right now. Do skin tags get red and sensitive? Thanks!

Yes, skin tags can be red and sensitive if they are in area where it is rubbed against a lot, such as in the armpit. If Athena's skin tag is irritated, I would discuss having it removed surgically with your vet.
