My small dog ate onion rings. Is onion toxic? What should I do now?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 4.6 lbs

Hello I just came home and my 4.6 pound yorkie has gotten into the trash and had 2 onion rings. They were heavily breaded but I know onion are toxic to dogs, just worried about her now.

Oh no, that was naughty of Piper! If she just got into the trash within the past two hours, you can take her into a vet immediately to have vomiting induced to get the onions out of her system to prevent any toxicity from occurring. Otherwise, you can monitor her for now. There likely isn't enough onion in these rings to cause toxic symptoms, but to be safe if you see any lethargy, weakness, ataxia, pale gums, hyper salivation, vomiting, diarrhea, or bloody urine, I would have Piper seen by a vet immediately.
