Pomeranian's undercoat buzzed: Will it grow back without patches?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 19 days old

Hi, I have female pomeranian 6 months old. Yesterday we went for first haircut to salon. I said them to make just a little trim with scissors and they got carried away and made her a buzz cut, now she has her undercoat cut. Her fur is only 1 cm long. I am so upset I can't even describe. She had long beautiful fur which I groomed every single day. My question is, since I don't want any patches situation going in future what should I do now to prevent it. Please help.. and thank you for your time

Oh no, I'm sorry Hana's fur was cut so short! I apologize but I'm not sure what you mean by "patches situation." Her fur will grow back as long as it was before, it will just take a couple of months. I shave my own Chow Chow into a lion cut (she has gorgeous red fur) to keep her cooler in the summer, and her fur always grows back as before. I understand being upset, but try not to worry too much because her fur will grow back in time. You can try giving her some fish oil supplements which can help with skin health. The dosage for that is 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined for every 30 pounds of body weight. I hope this helps!
