Why is my cat's chin red, swollen, and losing fur? Is it chin acne?

My indoor cat has a red, swollen chin and fur seems to be coming off as well, is this in infection or something else?

It sounds like Daisy may have Chin Acne which is common in cats. The most common cause is an allergy to the food/water bowels. Switch the containers to ceramic or metal and wash them well once weekly. The pores on her chin can become infected which may be going on here. Often times an antibiotic and antiseptic wipes can clear this up. Other possible causes are other allergies (food or flea) or ringworm (which people can get). Switch the bowels and if this does not clear her up or if it gets worse, take her into the vet.

Feline acne is common on the chin. It can cause redness, hair loss and scabs on the chin and face. It is often due to an allergic reaction from something. You can clean the area with soap and water. make sure to wipe it well after she comes in from outside. I would also change her bowls to stainless steel or glass and wash them daily to help bacteria get transferred to her face. IF it does not clear and an infection sets in, then she will need to see a vet for antibiotics
