My cat sneezed blood after spay. Is it serious or anesthesia related?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 3 lbs

My cat just sneezed a little blood. Today is the day after she got spayed. Is this something I should be worried about and should I take her to a vet or is this just due to irritation from the anesthesia?

It certainly is possible there was some trauma to Luna's trachea due to the ET tube leading to her sneezing blood today. I would keep an eye on her for now. If she keeps sneezing blood, starts showing other respiratory signs such coughing or difficultly breathing, lethargy, or anorexia, then I would take her into the vet.
