How to soothe my dog's painful itchy black scabs before the vet?

My dog has itchy black scabs all over his body. He is miserable and scratching is causing him pain. Not sure what to do to help him before our vet appointment tomorrow afternoon. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 8 months old | 12 lbs

Oh no, poor Toby! Unfortunately, there are no pain medications you can give him as many human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. You can him him an oatmeal bath or an Epsom salt bath. Either may be temporarily soothing to Toby.
