Poor Gizmo! This sounds quite uncomfortable! It is possible that he has a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or prostatitis (this condition occurs more in unneutered/intact dogs). Gizmo should see a vet for a urinalysis and x-ray to look for bladder stones. Since he is only urinating very small amounts, he should be examined by a vet immediately to make sure that his urethra is not becoming obstructed. I hope that he's feeling better soon!

This behavior in Gizmo could be a sign of a prostate problem, UTI, or bladder stones. I would have him seen by a vet for this behavior. The vet can do a physical exam, rectal exam, blood tests, and urinalysis to diagnose what is causing his symptoms. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. If it is a problem with his prostate, neutering him is one of the recommended treatments.

Even if Romeo has always been this way since he was tiny, as Dr. Strydom said, this is not a normal occurrence. It's possible that he may have a congenital issue, such as a narrow urethra or abnormally positioned/functioning ureters. It would be unusual for a dog Romeo's age (as well as when he was younger) to have prostate issues, but again, congenital issues are most likely. Without knowing why this is occurring, it's impossible to say what may help to improve this problem. At this point, your best bet is to take him to the vet for an exam and a urinalysis (just to rule out signs of infection - just to cover bases), some imaging. Your vet may recommend x-rays of his abdomen to check his bladder position and for the presence of stones, as well as an abdominal ultrasound to visualize his entire urinary system. I hope that everything goes well!
