My parakeet is on cage bottom, twitching, and fluffed up. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | 3 years old | 1lb

My parakeet has been on the bottom of the cage and twitching and shaking his head. He eats and drinks normally and activity is normal this just started today so I don't know if it will change. He keeps fluffing up and his facial features look more tired and not really well put together in a way like he usually is. I can't take him to a vet sadly bit is there any thing I can do to help or any name of medications I can by that are available at places such as Wal-Mart or Petco etc. Please help.

There are no medications that you can buy over-the-counter that are going to help poor Polly. All you can do is give her fresh food and water and support her as best you can and hope that this is something she can get over on her own. Good luck!
