My puppy ate unknown greens and is vomiting. Is it an emergency?

My puppy just ate greens that may be lilies coming up...he vomited 3 times, but is acting normal otherwise. There was a bit of the green in the first vomit, but not in the subsequent 2. Should I panic? I am not entirely sure what kind of plant it is...

Oh no, that was naughty of Oliver to eat those greens! Certain varieties of the lily are toxic to dog, and eating these varieties can cause GI upset, anorexia, and tremors. You have seen some GI upset, and I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps him. Withhold food for 8-12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

    Definitely stick to one food. If you changed Oliver's food from what he was eating before, that would be the cause of this gas and throwing up. It could also be that he has a GI illness. Withhold food for 6 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

The problem is that the mulch could cause a blockage in Luke, or if it was made with cocoa hulls, there is a chance of poisoning. If the mulch was made with cocoa hulls, then I would take him into the vet now. Otherwise, you can monitor him for now given he's vomiting up the bark, and try a home remedy. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. It sounds like Baxter may have eaten some grass or plant material, and then threw up. If he's eating and drinking as usual, and isn't lethargic, I would not worry about it. If he does throw up again, you can try withholding food and feeding a bland diet. bobby (mum staffy, dad bull mastiff great dane cross) is 7 months old and born in rescue. he is in good health and normally eats twice a day. he first vomitted tuesday afternoon it was frothy with green in as he had eaten some weeds in the garden.
Poor Bobby sounds like he is feeling unwell! I would avoid giving him tea as well, especially if it has milk in it. Dairy causes GI upset in dogs, and it may be making his vomiting worse. The only liquid he needs, even when sick, is water. He could be suffering from a severe GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, or could have a foreign body. It's a good idea that you have kept him off food since, and if he has been off food for 24 hours, feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.

The good news is that the tree is only mildly toxic Mowgli, but the needles will be an irritant to his stomach and GI tract. That would be causing the vomiting.
