Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 10 lbs
Hi. My one year old female cat has a small round wound on her paw pad. I have a picture but don't know how to add it. It's not bleeding, it looks more like a scab and is the size of the eraser on a pencil. Will this heal or is it a symptom of something worse?

Unfortunately, there is no way to share photos on the forum, but you can request a consult with an expert online to share as many photos as you'd like. If there is a scab on it, that means it is healing and I would leave it alone for now. Monitor it, and if it doesn't appear to be healing or if the area appears to be infected (redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, pus), then I would take Monkey into the vet for an exam.

Poor Scar. Without seeing him in person, I can't say if he will be ok or not. Wash the area with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.

Without a picture, I am trying to imagine what you are seeing. I don’t think that the pad has come off, but it is possible that the tough part of the pad may have sloughed off or become damaged. This layer of skin will heal over time, though it can take several months. After a day or two of bandaging, I would remove the bandage and have Moo wear an e-collar/cone to prevent licking. She will need to stay inside while wearing it, and ideally she wears it 24/7 until the pad has healed.
